By using the app or this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
My Cars App shows you MOT, road tax and basic vehicle information for UK vehicles, and can remind you before renewal dates fall due.
My Cars App is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of DVSA, DVLA or any UK government department. For official records always use GOV.UK: Check MOT history and Check vehicle tax.
There is no sign-up and no login. The vehicles you save and the dates you enter are stored on your own device, not on our servers. That means:
Vehicle data comes from DVSA and DVLA and is shown as supplied. We do not alter it, but we cannot guarantee it is complete, current or error-free, and government records can lag behind reality. Road tax cost figures shown in the app are estimates based on published GOV.UK rate tables and are for guidance only.
You remain responsible for keeping your vehicle taxed, insured and in possession of a valid MOT. Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee — they are scheduled on your own device and depend on the app being installed, notifications being enabled, and the data we receive being correct. Do not rely on the app as your only reminder.
Fuel prices, station names, addresses and map locations come from the government’s Fuel Finder scheme and are published by the fuel retailers themselves. We pass that data through unchanged. A station’s address, postcode or position on a map can therefore be wrong if the retailer has published it wrongly. When you tap Directions, we hand the station’s name and postcode to the maps app on your phone — where it takes you is decided by that app, not by us. Please check the destination looks right before you set off. If a station’s details are wrong, you can report it to the scheme using the Report a Discrepancy link on the station’s page in the app.
We may block access if you break these rules.
Checking any registration number is free. Saving vehicles and receiving reminders are free for a 14-day trial, after which they require a one-off unlock purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store. The unlock is a one-time payment, not a subscription.
Because there is no account, the unlock is tied to the Google or Apple store account that bought it. Use Restore Purchases in the app to reinstate it on a new device signed in to the same store account.
Purchases are handled by Google or Apple under their own terms. Refunds are requested through the store you bought from, and your statutory rights are unaffected.
We may change the price of the unlock for future purchasers. Anything you have already unlocked stays unlocked.
Vehicle data is public sector information supplied by DVSA and DVLA. Fuel prices and station details are public sector information from the government’s Fuel Finder scheme. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. All other content, design and software in the app and on this site is © Transpeed Ltd.
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we depend on government data services that are outside our control.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on information shown in the app, from a reminder that did not arrive, or for indirect or consequential loss such as fines, penalties or lost profits. If we are found liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous 12 months.
You use the service as a consumer. Nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the last change at the top.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
